Update May 16, 2025: At the May 15, 2025, Sacramento Audubon Society General Meeting a majority of those present voted to approve the amendment to the by-laws to allow online and mail-in ballots to be used for future votes to amend the bylaws. The current bylaws of the Sacramento Audubon Society can be found here.
The Board of Directors is aware of concerns regarding the upcoming name change vote. Currently our by-laws require that any amendments be voted on by those present at our General Meeting. It does not allow for either online or mail-in voting. Legitimate concerns have been raised that these restrictions effectively exclude those members who could not physically attend the meeting. Therefore we have decided to first hold an in-person vote at our May 15th General meeting to amend our bylaws to allow both online and in-person voting. Then, if approved, we will hold a second vote regarding a name change using online and mail-in ballots. Per our by-laws a 2/3 (67%) vote is required for any amendments to the bylaws.
