  • Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area 13300 White Rock Road Rancho Cordova, CA, 95742 United States (map)

This is a joint Prairie City SVRA and Sacramento Audubon event.
Registration is not required for this event.

The Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area (PCSVRA) of California State Parks is thrilled to host a spring public bird walk with the help of Sacramento Audubon volunteer, Rich Howard. This two-mile roundtrip walk is a gentle stroll along a flat, paved road that passes through cottonwood stands, willows, coyote bush, historic mining operations, open prairie vistas, and seasonal water features. Common species include White-Crowned Sparrow, Northern Mockingbird, Turkey Vulture and Northern Harrier. Rarer, but possible sightings include Bald Eagle, Great-Horned Owl, and Rock Wren. A limited supply of binoculars will be available to participants. Park day use fee is $5 per vehicle. Heavy rain and wind cancels.

Make sure to use the Park’s main entrance gate off White Rock Rd., not Special Event Gate 4 off Scott Rd.

Call (916) 985-1093 with any questions.
