This is a joint Prairie City SVRA and Sacramento Audubon event.
Registration is required for this event.

Lead birders from California State Parks and Sacramento Bird Alliance assist in the identification of audible and visual bird species and are equipped with spotting scopes and binoculars. Common species could include Spotted Towhee, Red-Tailed Hawk, Western Bluebird, Northern Mockingbird and Northern Harrier. Rarer sightings include Bald Eagle, Swainson’s Hawk, White-Tailed Kite and Rock Wren. April’s walk recorded 44 species in all!

Length and Terrain: 2.5-hour program along easy to moderate terrain along asphalt, gravel, and uneven dirt roads that passes through cottonwood stands, willows, conifers, coyote bush, historic mining operations, and open prairie vistas.

Ages: Appropriate for ages 10+. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Where: Zone 5 (Yost) Haul Rd. Directional signage will be posted, just after the entrance kiosk, and along the main roads to a designated parking area. Park Info Sheet and Map

Directions to Tour: Turn left after the entrance kiosk, continue for 0.50 miles, and turn left at the temporary directional sign at the double green gates. This will be the first road of any kind on your left.
