SAS Field Trip: Folsom Wetlands and Riparian Trails

Registration is required for this trip and is limited to 12 participants. Please email Chris to register.

Field Trip Leader: Chris Conard

We'll take time to look and really listen to a diverse suite of species as singing and territorial activity increases with the season. Development over the past 40 years has covered most of the habitat between Folsom's old core, Hwy 50 and El Dorado Hills, but small pockets of marsh, oaks, and riparian forest are found along Humbug and Willow Creeks, including an impressive network of trails. We'll look for marsh birds, including rails, wrens, and sparrows. Phainopeplas and Purple Finches are sometimes found.

We'll visit two, mostly level, paved trails of about a mile each, with regularly spaced benches. You can stay for both trails or leave after the first. There are paved parking and accessible bathrooms at each. All are welcome as we explore and learn more about our local birds during this transitional time of the avian calendar.

Directions and confirmation of exact meeting location will be provided upon registration.
