SAS Field Trip: William B. Pond Park

Registration is NOT required for this field trip.

Field Trip Leader: Dan Williams

Join Dan for a morning of birding at one of the crown jewels of Sacramento's American River Parkway. We will meet at the first parking spaces just past the entrance kiosk and from there slowly make our way in a long loop on the trails through the riparian woodland along the river, to the fishing pond, and back through the picnic grounds. Early May is a great time of year to find migrants on the parkway such as grosbeaks, orioles, tanagers, vireos, warblers, and flycatchers. Bring plenty of water and snacks and expect a full morning with lots of birds! A Sacramento county Parks Pass, or $7 entry fee is required for all vehicles.

Meet Dan at William Pond Park at the 1st parking lot on your left, just past the entrance kiosk. From the intersection of Fair Oaks and Arden, follow Arden east, just under 1 mile, as it runs into the park.
