Field Trip Leader: Ben Graber

Join Ben for this trip to one of his favorite birding spots. He has seen Lazuli Bunting, Cassin’s Vireo, Black-headed Grosbeak, and Canyon Wren along the trail.  The birding and scenery are excellent for whoever can brave the long, steep trail and Ben’s sense of humor.

This is a strenuous 8 mile round trip hike down to the American River, 4 miles down and 4 miles up, which is a 1400 foot elevation gain. Be sure to wear good walking or hiking shoes and bring liquids and snacks. This will be a half day trip.
