SAS Field Trip: A Focus on Shorebirds at the Bufferlands and EchoWater Facility

Registration is required for this trip and will be limited to 20 participants. Please email Chris to register.

Field Trip Leader: Chris Conard

By mid-July, the treatment ponds at the EchoWater Facility (surrounded by the SacSewer Bufferlands) may host thousands of migrating shorebirds that, weeks to a few days earlier, were on the Arctic tundra. This trip is open to anyone with an interest in shorebirds and is a great chance to learn more about them. We’ll scrutinize the common species, pointing out important ID points as well as a little of their natural history. And we’ll scan for any rarities that could be among the hoped for masses. Conditions are dynamic, and we may spend a little time checking out the adjacent Bufferlands, but we will wrap up before temperatures climb unreasonably.

Directions and confirmation of exact meeting location and time will be provided upon registration.
