Field Trip Leader: Michael Curtis
Join Michael on a walk around the Martinez Regional Shoreline. Located along the Carquinez Strait, this 343-acre park provides marsh and wetland habitat and offers views of the surrounding hills. Here, we can view songbirds, raptors, wading birds, and, with migration, possibly a variety of migratory shorebirds. This is an easy 1.5-mile walk on a flat dirt trail. Afterward, we will drive about 10 minutes east to Waterbird Regional Preserve, which has a marsh with a couple of observation points for stationary viewing. Here, we will get another opportunity to see a variety of migratory shorebirds as well as year-round residents. Restrooms are available at both locations.
Meeting Location: We will meet at the Park & Ride lot on West Capitol Avenue and I-80 in West Sacramento.
Directions to Park & Ride: Take exit 81 onto Enterprise Blvd, turn left at the light, and then the next left into the parking lot.
