SAS Field Trip: Crystal Basin, Eldorado National Forest

Registration is required for this trip and is limited to 6 cars. Please email Maureen to register.

Field Trip Leaders: Maureen Geiger and Rich Howard

Maureen and Rich will visit a variety of sites along Ice House Road and side roads looking for Lazuli Bunting, Green-tailed Towhee, Mountain Bluebird, warblers and vireos, and other birds of the area. They often see the Golden-crowned Kinglet and the beautiful Calliope Hummingbird. Large numbers of wildflowers may also be in bloom. Bring lunch, liquids, and footwear suitable for hiking. This will include about a 1-mile walk on uneven ground with some ups and downs. Both beginners and experienced birders are welcome. There are no restroom facilities until we reach the Ice House store near noon. Registration is required as there is a 6-car maximum due to short pullouts. Trip will end early to mid-afternoon.

Directions and confirmation of exact meeting location and time will be provided upon registration.
