Field Trip Leaders: Amy McDonald and Nancy Gronert
Join us for a morning of birding the beautiful American Canyon Wetlands as we take an easy walk along the slough trails toward the Napa River mouth. Expect large numbers of shorebirds, as well as waders, waterfowl, gulls, terns, and land birds. Raptors include the possibility of Osprey, Peregrine Falcon, and Bald Eagle. As shorebirds and water birds are a focus of this trip, a spotting scope will be very helpful. Your leaders will also carry scopes that you are welcome to use. A large port-a-potty available at parking lot.
Meet Nancy and Amy at the Wetlands Edge Park parking area. From Sacramento, take I-80 west towards Napa and Sonoma. Take exit 36 and turn right onto American Canyon Road. In 3 miles turn right onto Broadway. In 0.9 miles turn left onto Rio Del Mar. In 200 feet turn right onto Eucalyptus Dr. In 1 mile turn left into the Wetlands Edge Park parking area.
