This is a Folsom State Recreation Area event. Registration is required.
Need a relaxing but fun start to your morning? Join Senior Park Aide, Leenna for Hike and Seek: Birds and Blooms! Come enjoy the sounds of nature, while testing your ability to listen and identify different birds. This slow paced hike offers opportunities to view a variety of wildflowers and birds, covering a length of about 3 miles out and back. The trail is moderately difficult and narrow, with rocky/uneven terrain and gradual inclines. We will take frequent stops along the way to observe our surroundings and learn about different birds and blooms we find.
A field guide will be provided with a list of different birds that are local to the area for you to find as well as a flower field guide for local flora. You may also bring your own bird and flower field guides, or download the Merlin or iNaturalist app. A writing utensil and hard surface may be useful to have to fill out your checklist. Be sure to also bring binoculars or monoculars, if you have them. If you would like to borrow a pair of binoculars, loaners will be available in limited quantity so please let us know in your RSVP. Bring plenty of water, snacks, and sun protection. This hike is not recommended for young children, ages 10 and up are welcomed to join.
