CELEBRATE THE START OF BIODIVERSITY WEEK!
California Biodiversity Week spans September 6-14 this year. We’ll be kicking things off with a variety of family-friendly activities at Camp Pollock. Participate in a fun day of searching and learning as we get to know our plant and animal neighbors, and connect with local conservation organizations.

Wade Crowfoot is expected to join us for welcome remarks and updates on California’s 30×30 goals. Wade Crowfoot is California’s Secretary for Natural Resources, appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom in 2019. He leads statewide efforts to protect natural and cultural resources, combat climate change, and expand access to the outdoors. Naturalist BioBlitz – Tutorials available for those who need help getting started. This is a fun activity and helps document all the different plant and animal species on the historic 11-acre property. Join the Camp Pollock Kickoff Event project on iNaturalist to log your findings. Also, be sure to join the Find 30 Species for California Biodiversity Day project to submit observations of 30 wild species between September 6-14. All year long, share your observations on the general Camp Pollock project page on iNaturalist.
Volunteer Service Project – Help remove invasive weeds from the demonstration gardens and care for native plants in the nursery. No prior experience is necessary. We will provide the guidance and tools.
Solo Activities – Pick up a Nature Bingo card from the Fish & Wildlife table and have fun exploring. Let your little ones climb on Nature PlayScape. More than a dozen interpretive signs have been installed around the property as part of a Water Education Walking Tour. Learn at your own pace about the plants and animals that live in this riparian ecosystem, the unique history of Camp Pollock, and gather tips for improving your own backyard. More info and map.
Partner Booths – A variety of local conservation organizations will be hosting tables with fun activities and information, hopefully snacks too!resilient and sustainable California.
