Herons, woodpeckers, and finches, oh my! Join us for a stroll along the American River to look for the wide diversity of birds around the Nimbus Fish Hatchery. Bring comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, and binoculars if you have them. Extra binoculars will be provided, and no pre-registration is required. Parking and admission to the hatchery area is free!

Meet in the Nimbus Fish Hatchery parking lot. From Hwy 50 go north on Hazel Avenue; turn left on Gold Country Blvd. Make an immediate right on Nimbus Road and follow the signs to the hatchery.

If the hatchery parking lot remains closed due to delayed Visitor Center operations, field trip attendees should meet at the dirt parking lot at the entrance of the second turn off of Gold Country Blvd (also Nimbus Road). Coordinates are 38.632182, -121.224310.
